Colour Swatch Leaves

Colour swatching  leaves is a fun and cheap way to get to know your leaves and encourages you to notice the colours around you in the natural world. Trees are everywhere so it’s easy to do. Just get a sheet or strips of different shades of paint colours from your local DIY or hardware shop (they are usually for free) and then get searching for different colours and types of leaves.

Pick ten colours that you think you might find; this will vary according to the season. Then go out and search for the perfect match. You could then rename the colour according to what they match in nature.

A great season to do this in is Autumn because there is huge range of coloured leaves on the ground – you don’t (and shouldn’t) need to pick them from the trees. Why not challenge yourself to find ten different colours.
