Go conkering
Get bonkers about conkers
Autumn is the time of the year when you’ll find conkers on the ground, especially during/after a windy autumnal day. So even if the Health and Safety Executive has banned conker fighting in schools, it doesn’t mean you can’t get your own kids involved in a gold old-fashioned fight!
It’s amazing that kids these days simply don’t know how to string a conker or the rules of a traditional game of conkers; not to mention the cheats and tricks of pickling, baking and varnishing conkers to increase their chances of winning.
As with all good family adventures, bonkers about conkers is free, fun and loosely educational.
