Journey 8: 25 miles Yorkshire 3 Peaks
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk
At approximately 25 miles, this was our longest leg to date, and our biggest challenge too – made harder by the fact that we were carrying tent, sleeping bags, roll mats and food and drink to keep us going for two days. You see, we’d decided to cover the circular route with a scheduled over-night camp to make it more exciting and adventurous – it was our own little expedition!
The peaks aren’t particularly high, with Whernside the highest at just 736 m. But it’s the heavy walking across the fells and peat bogs in between Ingleborough (723 m) and Pen-y Ghent (694 m) that makes this a challenge for anyone not to mention Amy and in particular Ella, who has to take twice as many steps as adult.
Tired, muddy and weary at the finish maybe, but our wind-slapped faces told a story of achievement and pride.
25 miles in the bag!
Onwards …
