Twelve Days of GIVEmore
Twelve Days of Christmas
These words are synonymous with a well-known song that is sung at this time of year, a song about someone getting lots of presents from their true love, although admittedly not your average socks and slippers. But there is religious history associated with the 12 days of Christmas too.
The 12 Days of Christmas begin on Christmas day (the birth of Jesus) and end on the night of 5th January (Twelfth Night, the eve of the Epiphany when the three wise kings visited baby Jesus). This period is a time for Christian celebrations around the world.
For us, Christmas is not about the presents. Living in our motorhome has made us very aware that you don’t need a lot of “stuff”. We think it is important at this time of year to give and what you give can be free!
We decided to make up our own words to the Twelve Days of Christmas song and focus not on someone receiving presents but more on the generous act of giving or more importantly doing something kind to or for someone else.
Here are our words for the Twelve Days of Givemore:
On the First Day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
A nice warm cup of tea
One the Second day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
2 tender hugs
And a nice warm cup of tea
On the Third day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
3 helping hands
2 tender hugs
And a nice warm cup of tea
On the Fourth day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
4 compliments
3 helping hands
2 tender hugs
And a nice warm cup of tea
On the Fifth day of Givemore, I chose to do for thee:
Pick up 5 Plastic things, etc.
On the Sixth day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
6 smiles at strangers, etc.
On the Seventh day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
7 snacks for squirrels, etc.
On the Eighth day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
8 merry greetings, etc.
On the Nineth day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
9 little secret notes, etc.
On the Tenth day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
10 lots of bird seeds, etc.
On the Eleventh day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
11 please and thank yous, etc.
On the Twelfth day of Givemore, I chose to give to thee:
12 doors-a-opening, etc.
We will be doing all of the above over the Christmas season and just to prove it we’ll be making a video – our own Christmas single!!
