Your time to die

Thinking about death

Some time ago I read, or heard (I can’t remember which) something (I can’t remember what) that got me thinking. Thinking about death.

This didn’t result in morbid thoughts or negativity, it actually turned out to be one of the most motivating and liberating thoughts I’d ever had.

You see, one thing that we all have in common; rich or poor, successful or unsuccessful, celebrity or ‘normal’ is the fact that we are all going to die at some point.  But most people have no idea when that is going to be, though.

The result of this ignorance is quite strange really: we spend much of lives working too hard; we crave things and status (which relates to the working too hard bit); we don’t spend enough quality time with our families; we work for the weekends and the precious little holiday time we are awarded.

Is this the life we want?  Is this the life that will enable us to achieve our full potential? Are we happy with things or making do and hoping things will become more fulfilling and meaningful?

With the above in mind, ask yourself the following question. If you answer this with any kind of a YES, make some kind of change (no matter how big or small) in an effort to eventually be able to answer it with a NO. I will be.

If you knew when you were going to die, would you change anything about your life?
